Thud, thud, thud
There's a knocking on the door.
Who could it be, I thought
Walking towards the door.
I cringe to see it a neighbour,
come to pay a friendly visit.
I want to run at his affability.
Because right now, all I want is some time alone.
I heave a sigh and open the door,
Fighting the urge to lock it up, instead.
"Bear with me" I say, "the house is still a mess."
He smiles politely and offers his help.
I wish I could put up a sign,
'Just moved in and not ready for visitors.'
Yet, I smile to myself,
Thinking this is what a new place brings!
