To the little things

I am a firm believer that you find the truth, the real and the honesty in people in the little things they do for your. Flashy big acts can be overwhelming and wow-inspiring. But the practical person in me knows its effects will whither away like a flower. I find comfort in the little things people do for me. And today, I decided I should pay tribute to those little things that I value a lot. And no, I am not going to write a list of things that people have done for me and say who they are. :)

It's easy to get carried away with the hurly burly and the rat race we live in. It's easy to forget the 'thank yous' and the smiles. Or even the positive effect of a hug and holding someone's hands. We live in an artificially stimulated world, where the mundane and the so-called 'boring' things in life are stored away on a shelf, dusted, only to make a show of. Gone are the days when people hugged with kindness and warmth. The human touch is slowly leaving human-kind.

Something happened today that made me realise we need to appreciate these beautiful gestures more often. Sometimes, sulking on not having the starry moments, is not worth is. Because in the long run, it's the little things that help glue our lives together and keep you walking forward, smelling the roses along the road and enjoying the view.

So remember, no matter how hard the road may be, always look for the little things that matter. :)
